Король Рингбрадерсів розганяє Мустанг 69-го року до другої космічної швидкості
SEMA build trends come and go, but the one constant is that Wisconsin-based Ringbrothers will turn up with a project so exquisite you wonder why anyone would buy a cookie-cutter modern supercar instead of giving them a call. This year’s creation is Kingpin, a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 that looks like it might have been commissioned by the Grim Reaper himself.Related: Ringbrothers’ Latest Is An Aston Martin That Thinks It’s A Mustang GTDBeing based on a late 1960s Mustang fastback – or Sportsroof in ’69 Ford-speak – Kingpin isn’t as left field as some of Ringbrothers’ other projects, which include vintage Rolls Royce, AMC Javelin, and, just recently, a classic Aston Martin DBS. But the execution is every bit as epic, and consumed over 5,500 hours of shop time. Many of those shop hours were spent adding 2 inches (50 mm) of width to the front bodywork and 3.5 inches (89 mm) to the rear, then coating the entire shell in BASF’s Bootleg Black. The body now has a carbon fiber tail panel and rear diffuser, plus more carbon for the hood, grille surround and front valance.“The Mustang Mach 1 has always been an aggressive-looking car, and the client was adamant about creating a sinister aesthetic,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring. “We asked ourselves, ‘What would the final boss in a John Wick film drive?’ This was the result.”To make sure the handling isn’t as evil as its curb presence, Kingpin features an integrated Roadster Shop ladder chassis with a 1.5-inch (38 mm) wheelbase stretch, which helps turn the wobbly classic unibody Ford into something that rides, stops and steers more like a modern performance car.The spec includes independent rear suspension, Fox adjustable coilovers, Brembo brakes, HRE Vintage Series 517 wheels (19s up front, 20s at the back) and thick 345-section Michelin Pilot 4 S tires on the rear to handle the kick of an 800 hp (810 PS) engine build. The Wegner Motorsports 5.0-liter Coyote is topped with a Whipple supercharger and bolted to a Bowler Transmissions Carbon Edition six-speed manual gearbox.
